Team Storm had an incredible year on the lanes in 2017! Here’s a recap of the awards our team will be receiving from their success on and off the lanes.

Jason Belmonte – Player of the Year

Jason Belmonte of Australia earned his fourth PBA Player of the Year title. It was truly a record breaking year for Jason! He earned titles at the Barbasol PBA Players Championship, USBC Masters, Storm Lucky Larsen Masters, and the PBA World Championship. He is the first player in PBA History to win three major championships in one season and also the first player to win four Master titles.

East PBA Regional Player of the Year 

Matthew O’Grady of Rahway, N.J. competed in seven regional events finishing in the top-five in five events including one title and three second place finishes.

Midwest PBA Regional Player of the Year

AJ Johnson, of Oswego, Illinios won four titles and finished third place in the seven events he competed.

Central & Midwest PBA50 Player of the Year 

Brian Kretzer of Dayton, Ohio won three titles, one second place finish, and one third place finish to earn PBA50 Player of the Year in two regions.

Midwest Rookie of the Year

AJ Chapman of Manchester, Iowa had a great rookie season finishing second in one event and one fourth place finish in just four events.

Southwest PBA Player of the Year

Francois Lavoie, of Canada, won three titles combined with three second place finishes in the 10 events he competed in.

West Rookie of the Year

Kyle King of Glendale, Arizona took home one win and one third place finish on route to earn the Rookie of the Year award. He cashed in 10 events.

Northwest Rookie of the Year

Michael Tang, earned the rookie of the year honor. His high finish on the regional circuit was fourth.

2017 Tony Reyes Memorial Community Service Award

Del Ballard Jr. will be honored with the Tony Reyes Memorial Community Service Award for his fundraising efforts through “Ballard Vs. The Big C.”

According to the PBA, “Within three years, their fund-raising bowling tournament raised more than $145,000. As of 2017, Cancer Care Services, Baylor Health Care and the North Texas Laryngectomy Society have received in excess of $300,000 to carry out research on cancer treatments focused on the head, neck and throat.”
